A.J. has a heartwarming story. She was taken to a rescue organization when she was less than a year old as a happy, healthy, normal kitty. The rescue organization took her to a subsidized clinic to have her spayed. While under anesthesia her heart stopped for almost five minutes. The doctor was able to get her heart started again but she awoke with severe neurological problems from being without oxygen for so long. She is now blind and does not have proper motor skills in her legs or neck. The doctor took her home to try and rehabilitate her. After a few months and little success she was given back to the rescue organization and placed in foster care. She came to our clinic to assess her quality of life because she was losing weight and failing to thrive. Dr. Hurst knew as soon as she met her she wanted to adopt her. She felt in her heart she could have a forever home here without a label of being “unadoptable”. She has earned the nickname “crazy legs” because she gets so excited to “see” you that she runs full speed with all legs going in different directions. She loves being held and spending time in her favorite sunny window. While her motor skills and vision will not improve, she will always have a forever home with the kindness crew.
